Evie Howl is a cosmic romantic who enjoys listening to darkwave by the Pacific coast while watching the moonrise with the love of their life. They grew up in California longing for acknowledgement, to be seen, to be heard, to be loved.
The world in disarray and their emotionally unavailable parents launched their obsession with existentialism from a very young age. They were already reflecting on defining holistic consciousness and lecturing peers on morality and spirituality by age 15, but couldn’t see life past the ghetto. Evie’s emotional complexity sparked a lifelong devotion to understanding consciousness, connection, and authentic self-expression.
From extensive political activism in their teens, to getting accepted into a private liberal arts college in Vermont, to buying a hippie bus with close friends, converting it to run on waste vegetable oil and traveling cross country as untamed vagabond bohemians in their 20s, Evie has always persevered to pursue their personal utopia.
Evie unexpectedly ended up in NYC and worked for a renowned grassroots nonprofit until the hypocrisy of industrialized living led them to volunteer on an idyllic vast off-the-grid organic farm in the Catskill Mountains for a few months, then another, then another. Until they met their final lover. All their writing had been alluding to this lover in one way or another, even if subtle.
Evie’s life has been a continuous process of turning toward the self—not away from struggle. Their work is fueled by deep inner exploration, a commitment to authenticity, and a belief that transformation happens not by avoiding darkness but by engaging it with curiosity, bravery, and compassion.
With years of peer counseling experience and a psychology background, Evie has held safe, supportive spaces for people navigating identity questions, emotional overwhelm, cognitive dissonance, and interpersonal challenges in every community they have been a part of.
Their approach blends genuine empathetic listening, reflective dialogue, and intuitive insight to help clients recognize unseen patterns and access deeper self-understanding. Years of conversations and practice with a diverse range of people has sharpened their ability to listen deeply, hold nuance, and meet people where they are—skills that now ground their editorial practice.
Evie works as a poetry editor, copyeditor, and developmental book editor, with a particular affinity for philosophical, memoir-driven, lyrical, and hybrid manuscripts. They are known for honoring and preserving a writer’s true voice while strengthening clarity—approaching each text with both focus, professionalism, ambition, vision, and excitement.
Their editorial work is grounded not only in technical precision, but in an understanding of how language carries through lived experience—and how to shape that experience into something engaging, amusing, resonant, and whole, all while listening closely to their client’s wishes.
Their own lifelong writing returns again and again to a single question: what is life’s purpose? While often carrying a lyrical memento mori, their introspective and self-aware work ultimately guides others toward authenticity, integral-thinking, and meaningful self-expression.
Evie helps individuals explore their inner world, uncover patterns, and cultivate a more integrated, meaningful life with their transformative services.
When they aren’t frolicking in nature or exploring the cultural arts, they can be found enchantingly headbangdancing to their partner’s music, writing letters to friends adorned with wax seal stamps and seasonal flowers, or hosting homemade dinners by candelabra light
They currently cozily reside across the street from the ocean’s bay but enjoy running away off-the-grid periodically when their soul needs to recharge.
Despite their over-the-topness, they are actually quite shy but love connecting with individuals on a deeper level. Feel free to collaborate and say hello!
